These Photos Posted in the “Life” Magazine Will Make You Consider Taking Up Photography
John Glenn of Mercury 7, 1960
Space exploration has become a common news item these days, with numerous trips made to space and back. However, not much was known about it in the early ’60s, and “Life” photographer Ralph Morse had the pleasure of getting the experience first-hand as he documented the whole process of the Mercury 7 preparing to launch into space.
Morse spent so much time with the astronauts that one of them, John Glenn, pictured here, named him the eighth Mercury astronaut. And as a result, this and more photos he took made him one of the most renowned photojournalists in the world.
