Catch Up With Your Favorite ’70s Soap Opera Stars—Some Of Them Have Seemingly Stopped Aging Decades Ago!

Beverly Callard – Coronation Street, Age 64

Famous for her long-running role as Liz McDonald in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, Beverley Callard started her acting career at just seven years old. After graduating from school, though, she initially took a job as a typist. Her love for acting and performing proved to be too much for the young starlet, and she pursued her passion.

During her successful four-decade run in Hollywood, Callard has worked in fan-favorites like Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, Mile High, and Children in Need. She reprised her role as Liz McDonald in the 61st season of Coronation Street in 2020.

Catherine Schell – Doctor Who, Age 76

Even at 76 years old, Hungarian-born star Catherine Schell’s complexion today is as radiant as it was during the peak of her career in the ’70s. The Budapest native fled to Vienna with her family during the Second World War, when Nazi forces seized their home and assets.

Schell is best known as Countess Scarlioni in Sydney Newman’s hit show Doctor Who. However, she has also given memorable performances in The Return of the Pink Panther, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and Space: 1999. After a 15-year hiatus, she returned to the small screen as Duchess Valeria in the 2020 mini-series Dracula.

Rowena Cooper – The Bell, Age 86

Rowena Cooper began her career in 1956 in the Radio Drama Company before making a big splash in the ’70s with her performances in Crown Court, Play for Today, and The Two Ronnies. Cooper worked tirelessly throughout the ’70s and the next three decades to cement her legacy in the British entertainment industry.

During her legendary four decade-run, Cooper’s most notable performances came in The Bell, Poirot, Theatre Night, Dentist in the Chair, and The New Statesman. Recent paparazzi photos have shown that Cooper is still as elegant, beautiful, and youthful as always, even at the age of 86!

Phil Rose – Robin of Sherwood, Age 69

Best known for his memorable role as Friar Tuck in the ’80s sitcom Robin of Sherwood, Phil Rose is an English actor from Manchester. During his early years, Rose performed at the Manchester Youth Theatre while also training at the Birmingham School of Speech and Drama.

During his 32-year acting career, Rose has given noteworthy performances in Twelfth Night, City Rats, Memed My Hawk, and EastEnders. After a small role in 2009’s City Rats, Rose has generally shied away from the limelight apart from his brief appearance in 2016 on the talk show Hellblazerbiz.

Jenny Seagrove – Judge John Deed, Age 63

British actress Jennifer Ann Seagrove has retained her natural good looks, even at the age of 63. The Savage Islands star joined a theatre academy during her younger years, which helped hone her talents later showcased at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Fans would know Seagrove from her recurring role as Jo Mills in Judge John Deed, but she has also shown her acting prowess in The Guardian, A Woman of Substance, and Local Hero. Her new comedy, Off the Rails, directed by Jules Williamson, has completed filming and production and is ready to hit the big screen.
