60 Celebrity Marriages That Are Winning, Including Four That Prove Blind Dates Work
Tom Selleck & Jillie Mack – 33 Years
There’s a perfectly good reason that the 1984 movie Lassiter was a bomb. Not just because it tried to be too much like Tom Selleck’s Magnum P.I. But because Selleck, the main star, was too busy going to the West End to watch Cats to do a good job as his character.
Not that he cares, because after the Lassiter filming in London, he came back to America with his future wife, Jillie Mack. In the ’80s, Mack played the Rumpelteazer in the theater classic, although she hasn’t really dabbled in the industry since leaving England for America. Selleck is currently still starring as Frank Reagan in Blue Bloods.
Gladys Knight & William McDowell – 20 Years
After three failed marriages, Gladys Knight must’ve thought she was never going to settle. But then she married gospel musician William Mcdowell in 2001, and things seem to be holding together pretty well. You’d think McDowell would find it hard as a musician being married to the ten-time Grammy-winning Empress of Soul with hits like Midnight Train to Georgia and Love Overboard.

But McDowell has a solid reputation, with five studio albums, including a gospel chart-topping third album titled Withold Nothing that earned him a Grammy nomination. Knight hasn’t released any new music recently but will be playing herself in the upcoming sequel to the Eddie Murphy classic Coming To America.
Cyndi Lauper & David Thornton – 30 Years
As an ’80s musical icon, Cyndi Lauper gained fame for rebellious party songs like Girls Just Want to Have Fun and All Through The Night. But eventually, she just wanted to settle down, and she did just that when she met the love of her life David Thornton an actor famous for roles in Law & Order and The Notebook, among others.

They met and started dating in 1989, during Lauper’s A Night To Remember album period, and married in 1991. They have been together ever since and have one son together, born in 1997. They recently announced that Lauper would have a role in the upcoming Goonies 2.
Brigitte Nielsen & Mattia Dessi – 14 Years
Some would call Brigitte Nielsen a little reckless with love. This is especially considering that by the age of 40, she had already been married and divorced four times. This includes a two-year marriage to Sylvester Stallone. But she seems to have found her one true love.

He is producer Mattia Dessi, who she married in 2006. This happened just a year after she ended her second-longest marriage to Raoul Meyer. She and Dessi have a daughter together, which is her fifth child and only daughter. She last appeared in media as herself in a 2020 documentary called Ferro.
Oprah Winfrey & Stedman Graham – 35 Years
Oprah Winfrey could probably start a show based on her love life and failed relationships alone. But she also acknowledges that, despite her negative relationship experience, she believes that those experiences have shaped her into the woman she is today. It’s also allowed her to experience one truly positive relationship.

This relationship is with businessman Stedman Graham. They started dating in 1986 and got engaged six years later in 1992. Winfrey has never been married, and she and Graham don’t seem too interested in tying the knot, saying that they are happily engaged. Winfrey is set to be a producer on a musical version of The Color Purple.
