60 Celebrity Marriages That Are Winning, Including Four That Prove Blind Dates Work
Meryl Streep & Don Gummer – 42 Years
Although she is a megastar, and legendary actress, Meryl Streep still likes to maintain her personal life as normally as possible. Unlike most other stars in this story, she has only been married once, having previously been in a relationship with actor John Cazale, until he died of lung cancer.
She eventually married Don Gummer six months after Cazale died, and together the Oscar winner and her sculptor husband have four children. Streep is still pretty active as an actress and has an upcoming film called Don’t Look Up.
Cyndi Lauper & David Thornton – 30 Years
As an ’80s musical icon, Cyndi Lauper gained fame for rebellious party songs like Girls Just Want to Have Fun and All Through The Night. But eventually, she just wanted to settle down, and she did just that when she met the love of her life David Thornton an actor famous for roles in Law & Order and The Notebook, among others.
They met and started dating in 1989, during Lauper’s A Night To Remember album period, and married in 1991. They have been together ever since and have one son together, born in 1997. They recently announced that Lauper would have a role in the upcoming Goonies 2.
Tom Selleck & Jillie Mack – 33 Years
There’s a perfectly good reason that the 1984 movie Lassiter was a bomb. Not just because it tried to be too much like Tom Selleck’s Magnum P.I. But because Selleck, the main star, was too busy going to the West End to watch Cats to do a good job as his character.
Not that he cares, because after the Lassiter filming in London, he came back to America with his future wife, Jillie Mack. In the ’80s, Mack played the Rumpelteazer in the theater classic, although she hasn’t really dabbled in the industry since leaving England for America. Selleck is currently still starring as Frank Reagan in Blue Bloods.
