Connie Booth – 1940
Most of us got to discover Connie Booth in the series Fawlty Towers. She played the role of waitress Polly Sherman in the series. Of course, that was far from Booth’s only role as she was also in movies like Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Hawk. She quit acting quite early, as she retired in 1995 after her role in The Buccaneers.
After her retirement, she launched a career as a psychotherapist. She also retired from psychotherapy sometime later and has been off the radar ever since. Her loyal fans have been hoping for her return to the screen, but that looks pretty unlikely right now.
Ruth Buzzi – 1936
From her performances in The Garry Moore Show and The Steve Allen Comedy Hour, it was apparent Ruth Buzzi had a knack for making people laugh. However, it wasn’t until her performances in Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In that she became truly famous for being funny.
Perhaps her most unforgettable character was that of the spinster Gladys. Gladys’ appearance alone was hilarious, but Buzzi’s portrayal of the character was genius. She won a Golden Globe for her work on Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In, although she’s moved on to other projects since the show ended in 1973. These days, she’s awaiting the premiere of her upcoming movie One Month Out.
Ann Margret – 1941
Ann-Margret started making a name for herself in the acting scene during the ’60s. Some of her most memorable roles were in Carnal Knowledge, Viva Las Vegas, and Bye Bye Birdie. She even pursued singing, and people referred to her as the female counterpart of Elvis Presley.
It’s not hard to see why people loved the Sweden-born star because she’s a stunning woman, and aside from her talents, she had a superb fashion sense and a great personality. According to Ann-Margret’s IMDb page, she will make an appearance in an upcoming movie titled Queen Bees.
