Jayne Kennedy made remarkable strides as a woman of color when she won the Miss Ohio pageant in 1970. With that, she moved on to achieve success as a model with covers for Playboy and Ebony. She also worked in commercials for McDonald’s, Tab, Foster Grant, and Jovan Musk perfume.
Her biggest success came with hosting, where she even won an Emmy for her hosting during the 1982 Rose Bowl. Her performance as Julie Winters in the film “Body and Soul” won her an NAACP Award for Outstanding Actress. Throughout the years, she has been focused on uplifting the Black community, she has participated in many speaker conventions and fundraisers for the cause.
